About PSTCL

The Government of India has initiated reforms for liberalizing the power sector in the country to contain T&D losses, burgeoning subsidy burden and rampant corruption & for improving overall efficiency by making every individual accountable. The enactment of Electricity Act 2003 was the first step in this direction. Joining the league of other states in India, regarding implementation of Power sector reforms, Punjab Government has also unbundled Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB), which was a statutory body formed on 01/02/1959 responsible for Generation, Transmission and Distribution of electricity in the state of Punjab.

Name of Post – Assistant Engineer / Junior Engineer

Educational Qualification – BE / B.tech / Diploma – Any Specialization

Job Description 

Assistant Engineer/ OT (Electrical) :

  • Full time regular BE / B.Tech / B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent degree recognized by AICTE or AMIE with 60% Marks from Institution of Engineer (India) Kolkata.

Assistant Engineer/ OT (Civil) :

  • Full time regular BE / B.Tech / B.Sc Engineering in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent degree recognized by AICTE or AMIE in Civil Engineering with 60% Marks from institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta.

Account Officer :

  • CA/ CWA/ CMA.

Assistant Manager/ HR :

  • 2 years Full time regular MBA Degree or PG Diploma recognized by AICTE with specialization in HR/ IR with atleast 60% Marks OR Regular PSPCL/PSTCL employee having 2 or 3 years MBA degree or PG Diploma with at least 60% Marks through regular / correspondence or Distance Education mode duly recognized by AICTE with specialization in HR/IR and having atleast 3 years total experience in PSPCL/ PSTCL.

Assistant Manager/ IT :

  • Full time regular BE / B.Tech/ B.SC Engineering in Computer Science/ IT with a minimum 60% marks OR Equivalent degree in respective discipline recognized by AICTE OR Full time regular MCA from an institution / university recognized / approved by State / Central Government with atleast 60% marks. OR Full time regular Master’s degree in IT from an institution/ University recognized/ approved by state/ Central Government with atleast 60% marks.

Junior Engineer/ Sub Station :

  • Full time regular 3 or 4 years Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engg. Recognized / approved by State / Central Govt, Board, with minimum 60% marks, OR BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. Engineering in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engg. with the minimum of 50% marks OR equivalent degree recognized/ approved by AICTE. OR AMIE in Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics Engg. with atleast 50% marks from Institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta.

Junior Engineer/ Civil :

  • Full time regular 3 or 4 years Diploma in Civil Engg., recognized/ approved by State/ Central Govt. Board, with minimum of 60% marks. OR BE/ B.Tech/ B.Sc Engineering in Civil Engg. with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent degree recognized/ approved by AICTE. OR AMIE in Civil Engineering with atleast 50% marks from Institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta.

Junior Engineer/ Communication :

  • Full time regular 3 or 4 years Diploma in Electronics/ Telecommunication Engg., recognized/approved by State / Central Govt. Board, with minimum 60% marks. OR BE/B.Tech/ B.Sc. Engineering in Electronics/ Telecommunication Engg. with the minimum of 50% marks OR equivalent degree recognized/ approved by AICTE, OR AMIE in Electronics/ Telecommunication Engg. with atleast 50% marks from Institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta.

Telephone Mechanic :

  • Full time regular 3 or 4 year diploma in Electronics & Communication Engg. from recognized / approved by State / Central Govt. Board, with minimum 50% marks.

Lower Division Clerk/ Typist :

  • Full time regular course in Bachelor’s Degree from a State/ Central Government recognized/ approved University or Institution with minimum 50% marks, AND Possesses certificate for at least one hundred and twenty hours course with hands on experience in the use of Personal Computer or Information Technology in Office Productivity application or Desktop Publishing application from a Govt, Recognized/ approved Institution/ Board, OR
  • Possesses a Computer Information ‘Technology Course equivalent to ‘O” level certificate of Deptt, OF Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) of Govt, OF India.
    Punjabi passed up to Matric standard.
  • Lower Division Clerk (Accounts) :
    • Full time regular course in Bachelor of Commerce from a State/ Central Government recognized/ approved University or Institution with minimum 50% marks, AND Possesses certificate for at least one hundred and twenty hours course with hands on experience in the use of Personal Computer or Information Technology in Office Productivity application or Desktop Publishing application from a Govt. Recognized/approved Institution/Board. OR
    • Possesses a Computer Information Technology Course equivalent to ‘O° level certificate of Deptt. Of electronics Accreditation of computer courses (DOEACC) of Govt. India.
      Punjabi passed up to Matric standard.
  • Age Limit :
    • For Assistant Engineer/OT (Electrical), Assistant Engineer/OT (Civil), Account Officer, Assistant Manager/HR, Assistant Manager/IT – 20 to 37 years
    • For Divisional Accountant, Junior Engineer/Substation, Junior Engineer/Civil, Junior Engineer/Communication, Telephone Mechanic, Lower Division Clerk/Typist & Lower Division Clerk (Accountant) – 18 to 37 years

    The upper age limit is relaxable by:

    • For SC/ST/BC: 5 years
    • For PH: 10 years

  • PSTCL  Recruitment Selection Process:
    • The question paper for each of the 12 No. categories of posts shall consist of 100 No. objective type questions (each question carrying 1 mark), with a provision of negative marking for a wrong answer @ 0.25 (1/4″) of the mark allotted for a correct answer, to be attempted online in a duration of 2 hours.
    • Question Paper Available in the English Language for All Posts.
    • The Merit shall be prepared based on the marks scored In the Online Test.
    • The questions shall be related to the concerned subject relevant to the post, general knowledge/awareness, reasoning / numerical ability, and English language
